Cindy Thompson from Schnepf Elementary School has been named Educator of the Year at the 2024 Queen Creek Chamber Business Awards. The Queen Creek Unified School District announced this recognition on its Facebook page. Other finalists for the award included Kelly Gordon from Gateway Polytechnic Academy and Kimberly Cowden from Schnepf Elementary. The district expressed pride in all the finalists.

The Apache Junction Police Department said it conducted a two-day undercover operation that led to 10 arrests on felony charges tied to efforts to exploit minors online. Investigators said none of those arrested were Apache Junction residents.
