Chandler opens Villas on McQueen public housing
The City of Chandler said it celebrated the grand opening of Villas on McQueen, the city’s first public housing conversion through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program.
Chandler said the $58 million development provides 157 modern, affordable homes for low- and moderate-income families, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities. The project, according to the city, replaces two public housing communities that have served Chandler residents for more than 50 years.
The city said the project resulted from years of planning and collaboration, including a public-private partnership with Gorman & Company and support from the Arizona Department of Housing, Maricopa County, RBC Community Investments, Stonehenge Capital, Capital One, and Cedar Rapids Bank and Trust.
Chandler said the community includes amenities such as a fitness center, maker space, and a meditation room, along with on-site resident services provided by its Housing staff.
The city directed readers to VillasOnMcQueen.com for more information.
